As we’ve reached the second half of Fifa 18’s season, we have decided to interview our coach, Babacar “Babadinho” Ndiaye.
Hi Baba, could you introduce yourself in a few words ?
“Hi ! My name is Babacar, i’ve been working for BeGenius for about a year now as a Community Manager, and i integrated so well they suddenly decided i was a coach now ! I’ve been supporting BadWilliams until he leaves.”
Can you sum up the Genius’ seasons for us ?
“To me, this season has been a fantastic one nationaly speaking, BeGenius has attended all the national competitions. We began the season with the PS PLUS League during the Paris Games Week, when Famsinho lost in the round of 8 against Diakx (who has been recruited by the Genius later on). Then, we witnessed the brilliant qualifications from both Famsinho and Levislena (who won on both gaming devices at his club) during Winter Orange eLigue1 qualifiers.
In between, Famsinho won the pro Maxmius Cup in Rales, which gathered a lot of good players such as Spain’s and Portugal’s Fifa champions. During the Orange eLigue1 Finale, Famsinho managed to win and qualify for the Grand Finale on the BeIn Sports tv show, but lost unfortunately against CocoVBastos, and thus scored a Top2 for this winter session. On his side, Levislena wasn’t as lucky as Famsinho as he lost during the round of 8 against Usmakabyle. Unfortunately, Famsinho couldn’t qualify for the Spring session of the tournament but Levislena managed to qualify on both gaming devices again. Right before the competition, we recruited Diakx, a promising player, who won Saint Etienne’s tournament on both gaming devices, just like Levislena. Diakx will lose later during the round of 16 and Levislena will again lose during the round of 8, both of them will lose against ‘Bryan du 93’. Season kept going afterward and our players almost managed to qualify for the ESWC in Paris, with Diakx who lost just the one game he needed against Maniika from PSG Esport.
The players then qualified for the regional finales of the eCopa Coca-Cola. Famsinho and Diakx both attended the competition in the Paris regional bracket. During this finale, Diakx loses against Aero from team Envy during the round of 8 but Famsinho reach the finale and wins it, beating Daxe and Maniika from PSG Esport. Doing so, he became his region’s champion and qualified for the national finale but lost during the round of 16 against Vicente from Supremacy. The season is not finished yet, there is still one competition at the end of the month (Amos Esport Cup). Then, we will have to practice for the arrival of Fifa 19.”
What do you expect from Fifa 19?
“On Fifa 19, I expect my players to improve their performances and qualify for the international competitions, i know they can !”
Do you have a strong relationship with your players ? How do you prepare the competitions ?
“I have an excellent relation with my players, we’re just like a family in the BeGenius structure and we play a lot against each other to train. This is how i prepare for the upcoming competitions, practice makes perfect as they say so either we play against each other or they play against other professional players. Afterward, my role is to prepare them psychologically because they do have the skill needed, but qualifying to the regional eWorld cup also require a strong will and mindset as you have to play and win a lot of games one after another in very little time.”
Thank you for your time, anything you would like to add ?
“I would like to thank BeGenius for this crazy season i’m living with the players, and i hope it keeps going this way. Thanks to our sponsors aswell : Eaton, Acer and Nacon !”
